Five For Free #151

Milk Music - I've Got A Wild Feeling

There was considerable hype for a few weeks last year when Washington's Milk Music released their acclaimed 'Beyond Living' EP and set out for some very well received shows. It's been a bit quiet since then, but expect it all to kick off again soon. 'I've Got A Wild Feeling' is their tremendous, grungy new single and precedes their album 'Cruise Your Illusion' on April 2nd.

Gentlemen Hall - Sail Into The Sun

Boston band Gentlemen Hall have chosen the wort possible time to release one of the most summery tracks you're likely to hear all year. It's not even like they've got the excuse of being from the southern hemisphere. Still, how can we complain about a piece of euphoric alt-pop as cheery and contagious as this? If you want more then you'll be pleased to know that a new album is "in the works".

Dog Bite - Native America

Ahead of hitting the road in support of Toro Y Moi, Georgia native Phil Jones gives us a free download of the third single from his debut album as Dog Bite, 'Velvet Changes'. 'Native America' is an excellently well put together piece of dreampop that takes you back to the mistier end of the shoegaze wave of 1991. We're expecting a breakthrough from this guy before too long.

Glimpse Trio - Holiday

From Oakland, California are Glimpse Trio who have just released their self-titled album for free download via their Bandcamp page. The album mixes various guitar influences from lo-fi to punk to indie to alt-rock. There are ten tracks there for nothing so it's worth heading over and picking them up. As a little sample of what to expect here's the sprightly 'Holiday'.

The Disraeli Gears - Hieroglyphs

Splitting their time between London and Leeds are The Disraeli Gears who follow-up their debut single 'Skeleton' with another fine piece of alt-rock called Hieroglyphs, once again it's free to download. A smart and brooding number, this track makes great use of the atmospherics you can create with different guitar techniques and a strong female vocal.
