Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk
Proof that you should never judge a song on it's opening few bars. If this had been done here we'd have missed out on a quality alt-pop song that packs quite a punch when it hits its stride. DA & The Jones have just released their EP 'Electric Love' and 'Break My Heart' is the current single, and it's a very good choice. The video's an interesting one too, with the two vocalists mouthing off to each other before being joined by another woman who soon strips off to dance about naked. Quite what the meaning of this is we can't quite figure out.
As for the song, well it does just sound like another credible pop track at the beginning; well produced, warm vocals, intricate touches and a slight minimalist feel. Then after a while it begins its ascent and this routine number grows in stature with bigger beats, guitars and stronger vocals. By the time we reach the final third it's fully transformed into a speaker-quaking, mighty and impressive alt-pop tune that should be on heavy rotation on radios everywhere. If they have more of these then we should be hearing a lot more from these guys.
