Five For Free #208

United Ghosts - Unhypnotized

Such is the confusion, multi-release dates and general madness of the music world at the moment, we featured 'Holes Into The Night' as a free download earlier this year when United Ghosts released their self-titled album. Well it was released again at the end of May, so here's another cracking indie/shoegazetrack from it. This one's called 'Unhypnotized'.

Bitmap - Hypnotize

In title, this freebie from East Yorkshire's Bitmap seems to be the perfect antidote to the first track, but musically it's a match and also a little different. With a slightly dancier slant, 'Hypnotize' isn't too far away from what bands like The Beta Band were doing a while back, but this sounds fresh and up to date, making it a thoroughly fabulous modern alt-pop tune.

FISHDOCTOR - Seasons

Currently based in Brooklyn, FISHDOCTOR have members from across the States. We'd like to believe that one of them really was a fish doctor but we're not sure they exist. 'Seasons' is a very fine piece of alt-rock though, with solid foundations, nice melodies and extra twinkles for added listenability. Check out their SoundCloud page for more.

Dan Webb - Sandstorm

Continuing his quest to release one free track for each month of the year is Aussie Dan Webb. You can search back for previous tunes, but this month we get 'Sandstorm' which is a little different to his convention indie-rock, taking a more experimental approach. It's not as immediate as some due to its unexpected style, but once you've given it a couple of spins you'll find he's come up with the goods again.

Strangers - No Longer Lost

Never ones to shy away from aiming big, Strangers are back with yet another giveaway. This time it's 'No Longer Lost' which we get for free, and it comes with a full sound and feels ready made for bigger crowds. A powerful electro-pop number, it's songs like this that will surely see Strangers make a breakthrough into the mainstream before too long.
