Fenech-Soler - Magnetic

Single review by

Having a quick scan through The Sound Of Confusion archives it would appear that we haven't featured Fenech-Soler since back when we were a radio show. That said, their last album was released in 2010 and we've only been in our current location for two and a half years, so we haven't missed anything barring a solitary single. The band are back with second album 'Rituals' which is set to be released at the start of September and fist single 'Magnetic' finds them in fine form, if perhaps a little more poppy than they were before.

This is no bad thing, in fact it suits them rather well. 'Magnetic' is, naturally, an upbeat indie/electro track, much like their previous material, but here they're sounding a tad more commercial; this song seems engineered for heavy radio rotation and will probably get it. There's almost a tribal feel to the beat, but one that's equally aiming for the more conventional dancefloor. It's euphoric, it's vibrant and it's made for being off your face to at a festival this summer. We're detecting potential anthem status for this one.
