As is often the case with the music industry, the people who are really behind the hits are anonymous producers and writers. How many of you know what Xenomania look like? I bet you all know their mega-hits for Cher, Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Pet Shop Boys, Kylie and so on. Miike Snow stepped out from behind the desk and launched a successful solo career and it looks like The Flight might just follow suit. We don't know who they've made records for in the past, just that they have. Maybe they don't want to be associated with previous achievements and rather be judged on their own merits. This attempt will begin with the release of 'The hangman' EP on March 10th.
By way of an introduction they've released this freaky, dark and captivting video to accompany the title-track. We'll let you make your own minds up on it, but we love it. The song too is a grand achievement. Finding that middle ground between out-and-out pop and more alternative electro-pop isn't an easy one, as we've been discussing a lot recently. Especially at this current moment with so many trying to get noticed with a similar approach. 'Hangman' isn't number one material, it's simply not commercial enough. I think what we can expect from these guys is (assuming this isn't a one-off) a slow and steady word-of-mouth build-up over the course of 2013 and The Flight maybe ending up as one of the surprise packages of the year.
