Five For Free #125

Ghost Of Chance - Mexico City

Just when you think you've heard enough lo-fi garage-rock to last a lifetime, along come another bunch of DIY guitar botherers to make you think again. From Connecticut come Ghost Of Chance who will be releasing their new 7" EP on November 15th and you can download lead track, the echoing psych of 'Mexico City' for free. It's a triumph of sheer passion and determination.

The Crooked Beat - Politicians

On the UK's south coast, six-piece psychedelic/dub/funk collective The Crooked Beat are also lining up a new release. The Southampton-based clan are giving away both new tracks free from their website. There's the mysterious and atmospheric 'It Must Be Tough Being A Ghost', or our favourite, the hard-hitting, politically charged (and aptly named) 'Politicians'.

Die Eternias - To The Monkey

We've been dipping our toes into the tempting waters of Austria's alternative music scene a bit lately, thanks in part to the excellent Seayou Record label. One of their forthcoming releases is the new album from Vienna's Die Eternias which is called 'Should Out'. It's out on November 23rd but in the mean time check the lovely melodic indie of single 'To The Monkey'.

Wolf Alice - Leaving You

London trio Wolf Alice are a band who's star is on the rise, thanks in part to some decent support slots, but mostly due to their wonderfully emotive tunes. New single and free download 'Leaving You' is a showcase for some beautiful vocals and a subtlety that adds more emotion than a million power chords. The song flits between tender balladry and impressive alt-rock with ease.

Bear Cavalry - Aubrey Plaza

Gosport four-piece Bear Cavalry have a new EP out on November 5th, ahead of which they've played a couple of gigs alongside the equally great Crushing Blows. The EP will be titled 'Puryss' and free taster 'Aubrey Plaza' messes around with various forms of indie-rock, from math-rock to sunshine-pop and a hint of psychedelia, but rather than sound like a hotch-potch it all works rather well.
