Finnmark! - Everyone's Dying
With an indiepop sound like this it seems sensible to consider the fact that Leeds band Finnmark! have taken their name from Finland and Denmark, two countries noted for melodic, catchy, DIY guitar-pop like this. As it turns out the initial seeds of the band were sown in Sweden, an area of which is known as Finnmark, so whether our theory has any credence is unlikely, but the song's just great.

Texture & Light - A Quiet Place
Trevor Refix is reasonably well known as a DJ and here he's going under the guise of Texture & Light to release an album, 'The Hard Problem Of Consciousness', which is inspired by Galaxie 500, Yeasayer and Built To Spill. So an eclectic mix then, and a suitably eclectic sound. One that mixes electronic beats with dreampop and more conventional left-field pop sounds. Check out freebie 'A Quiet Place'.

Dead Professional - Downtown at Sundown
The man behind the moniker of Dead Professional is Virginian musician John Harouff. After years of experience in bands he's now going it alone and is offering a free download of the rather good 'Downtown at Sundown' from his new EP, a driving and breezy piece of US alt-rock that sounds as though it was made by experienced hands and contains some very nice touches.

Feather Beds - Walter
Irish group Feather Beds formed in the spring of last year and have draw comparisons to many acclaimed dreampop artists, and on the strength of new tune 'Walter' it's easy to see why. The song has a hazy appeal and vocals that are soft and warm, and in mixing this with their slightly experimental approach to creating sounds they've come up with something quite lovely.

Craig Hansen & The Missendens - Today Is The Day
Sydney-based musician Craig Hansen began life as a solo artist, but before long this had developed into Craig Hansen & The Missendens. With very little known about the project yet, all we can tell you for sure is that 'Today's The Day' is their first proper single and it's already picked up a little hype, something we're happy to add to as this is a very fine guitar-pop song.
