The Hertz Complex - Bassy

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

Based in London, The Hertz Complex formed as a trio last year and in January hit the studio to record their first proper tracks. These (or at least some of them, maybe with other recordings) are set to be released on the band's debut EP which is tentatively scheduled for the end of the year. So the Anglo-Irish group haven't rushed anything, and this could work in their favour. Given this time to develop has already led to some very fine reviews of their music and their live show too.

The first track taken from their forthcoming debut is 'Bassy', a song you could describe as experimental indie. They're a guitar band and musically we're talking a regular guitar, bass, drums, vocals set-up. But The Hertz Complex are pushing themselves to develop a sound of their own, and you can hear that on this track. There's spoken-word section near the start which is hardly groundbreaking but at least shows some imagination. There's also a good attention to detail and the production is spot on. So combine all these aspects and you have a band with much potential.
