Blast Unit Moscow - Rollercoaster Ride

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

At first I was willing to write off the cliched "stick it to the man" style lyrics to the fact that, as their name suggests, Blast Unit Moscow probably don't have English as their first language. But the likes of "we struggle, never get paid" and "don't do what they say" are actually fairly isolated, and the lyrics overall are fairly good, if occasionally a bit predictable. The song though, is a cracking little modern rock n' roll tune that's got energy dripping from every pore and is raced through with real zest and zeal.

Their album 'Krizis Of Genre' was recorded in Spain with Youth at the helm, and this will have done them no harm, and knowing this it's maybe less surprising that from a shaky beginning this track turns into something quite thrilling. It's raw, scuzzy punk-rock made by a band who are holding nothing back; they;re throwing themselves into this song and that passion makes all the difference. With a bit more widespread press coverage they could have a bright future ahead of them.
