Caged Animals - Too Much Dark

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

After a brief period of public inactivity which was spent writing and recording their new album, New Yorkers Caged Animals returned at the start of the summer with a new single, 'Cindy + Me', which was the first to be taken from their forthcoming new album 'In The Land Of Giants'. With that album's release now only a week away, we though it would be a good idea to share a little something else that will be appearing in the record, in fact, we're told that 'Too Much Dark' was the very first song written for the project and may give clues to the finished article.

This track contains much soul-searching, there's a sense of pain and of anguish. The title alone says it all really, and the song was written following a period of personal tragedy for songwriter Vincent Cacchione. As we know, these might be horrible times for the people involved, but can result is some amazingly emotive music. That's the case with 'Too Much Dark'. Like the previous single, Caged Animals take an experimental approach to the music, using electronic beats and glistening synths to sweeten the pill. It's a heartfelt song that's arranged wonderfully. It may be scant consolation, but tunes like this prove that every cloud has a silver lining.
