Five For Free #233

H.M Hammarin - Living A Lie

It's quite wonderful to hear something that definitely gives a nod to '80s pop but not shambling indie or dated synth nonsense. H.M Hammerin is a new Swedish artist and, although reasonably unknown at the moment, those that have heard his music are predicting possible big things. It is a form of guitar music, and one that also is pop to its core. 'Living A Lie' is pleasantly different.

Ms. Henrik - Everybody's In Here

We know more about androgynous Swedish alt-pop artist Ms. Henrik having previously posted 'Mark'. 'Everybody's In Here' is more cracking indie/alt-pop, and a whole new visual/audio experience. Having teamed up with his friend H.M. Hammarin they've made a novel dual video in which they both appear and both songs can be heard at once or apart or mixed as you see fit. We've seen nothing quite like it before.

Work Drugs - Bellport Bay

A quick scan through the results you'll find when typing Work Drugs into our search box will show that we've been following their every move for over a year, and there have been a good few tunes. New song 'Bellport Bay' was written in the summer on Long Island's south coast and features Philadelphia artist Ryan Williams on vocals. This laid-back tune sounds exactly like the work of some friends chilling in the sun.

Libel - This Is Love

Brooklyn group Libel are releasing 'This Is Love' as the first single from their new album 'Music For Car Commercials'. We're not sure this punky rock tune will be suitable for that purpose, but it ticks the right boxes for us, cramming in plenty of fuzz and distortion whilst making ample room for some melody too. A classic formula, but one that works great in capable hands.

The Seshen - Oblivian

Earlier this year we featured the single '2000 Seasons' by Californian electro-pop group The Seshen. Well, they have more goodies for us. There is now a video for that track and a further two tracks to download for free on their SoundCloud page. Our favourite is the sparkling and sharp 'Oblivion' which steers well clear of the retro synth sounds that so many others are making.
