Fatherson - Mine For Me

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

Originally from Kilmarnock but now based in Glasgow, Fatherson give as a solid dose of conventional indie-rock with their new single 'Mine For Me' Think Idlewild crossed with Frightened Rabbit and you're there. The quartet have been around since 2010 and have already released a few EPs which you can pick up as combined bundle from their Bandcamp page. There's more than one debut here. This is the first release on A Modern Way recordings, and it's also the first single from the band's debut album 'I Am An Island'.

You can't deny that a lot of heart and soul has gone into 'Mine For Me', this is the sound of determination and of vigour; essentially it's a band giving it their all to try and prove their worth, and at a time where rock music isn't in the spotlight as much as it has been in the past this is essential. With their album set for release before the end of the year and this single being as strong and as powerful as it it, Fatherson have definitely given themselves a fighting chance.
