Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk
If you're a fan of slightly goofy electro-pop and mannequins then Christmas has just arrived a few days early for you. Another product of Brooklyn's never ending alternative/indie/electro conveyor belt, TalkFine released their album 'Lesser Known Hits' back in the summer and have just uploaded this quite bizarre video for new single 'She Never', a catchy synth-driven track that takes in elements of funk and all those 80s pop hits that you secretly like but would never admit to in public. It's difficult to tell whether or not the song is slightly tongue-in-cheek, but it's definitely not a deadly serious artistic statement.
No, 'She Never' is supposed to be fun and it is. It won't become your favourite song and it's probably not trying to be, but it's a pleasant enough listen if this is the kind of thing that floats your boat. People have some strange fetishes, and maybe a love of shop window dummies is something that genuinely does turn some people on. There's probably a word for them, and that work is probably "weirdos", but that's what happens in the promo for this track, a video that's without question tongue-in-cheek and shows our protagonist and his new love getting up to all kind of capers. 'She Never' may be a touch throwaway but it is worth a quick spin, particularly for those who share this odd love of inanimate objects.
