We're assured that the debut album from Lord Huron is "magnificent", and to be quite honest we have no reason to believe otherwise. Many fans will no doubt have heard 'Lonesome Dreams' already as it's available in North America and also to download, although its official physical UK release won't be until mid January, a couple of weeks that are shaping up to be the busiest ever if our inbox is anything to go by. These Californians won't get lost in the flood though, they're too good for that. Exhibit one was free download 'The Stranger' which we sang the praises of in October.
Exhibit two the title-track of the EP from which that track was taken. 'Time To Run' will be on the album and comes with a Western themed video which is oddly fitting for their widescreen Americana sound. A little more upbeat than 'The Stranger', 'Time To Run' is a winning blend of folk, country, indie and even dreampop; it's spacious with rich production and will appeal to fans of Grizzly Bear, My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes and other contemporary bands of that ilk, and there's no reason why Lord Huron shouldn't follow in their footsteps and become cherished by both critics and the record buying public, so expect to hear the name a little more regularly very soon.
