Duologue - Push It

Single review by KevW

Londoners Duologue are currently known as much for their wealth of remixes (they've added their unique touch to tracks by Givers, Florence & The Machine and Little Dragon amongst many others) although they have released a good few tracks of their own. In 2013 they're hoping the spotlight will firmly be on their original material, and maybe it'll be them getting the remix treatment from others, when they finally release their debut album. Planned for a February release with a launch party scheduled for Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on the 13th, they've revealed the title will be, rather fittingly, 'Song & Dance', two words that sum up their career so far.

New single 'Push It' first appeared on last year's 'A-B' EP but is being given an extra push ahead of the album. It's a wise choice too, as the track could loosely fit the broad dance music category but also has a strong basis in more conventional songwriting. There's a slight math-rock thing going on and you could maybe draw comparisons with Foals or Friendly Fires in the cross-genre stakes. There's a little extra majesty with this one though, the chorus lights up with strings and voices, briefly hitting bigger heights. Given their body of work so far we could be looking at a broad spectrum of sounds and styles on the album.
