Dr Scardo - End Of The World

Single review by KevW

OK, so we all know that Friday will be the so-called Mayan apocalypse (we'll ignore the fact that the Mayans didn't actually predict an apocalypse and play along) and everyone's been trying to cash-in on this for years. Friday does mark the beginning of a new galactic cycle though, so maybe something will happen or maybe we will at least see the start of something. Four guys who will be hoping that the world doesn't end are Brighton band Dr Scardo, who ironically have written a song about what might happen and decided to release it on the equinox itself.

'End Of The World' does mark the start of something, being the debut single by this group who are the latest project of Simon Scardanelli and his freakily masked bandmates. It's a pretty catchy indie-rock number too, with hints of The House Of Love and a big chorus, plus bonus points being given for the funky bassline. The lyrics talk of signs of impending doom (as in actual events like the London riots, not made-up stuff) and footage of such disturbances appear in the video. With a bit of luck, you should be able to buy this song on Friday... fingers crossed.
