Cold Showers - BC

Single review by KevW

If you have a penchant for post-punk and shoegaze and like your music upbeat buy gloomy at the same time then really you need to be listening to Cold Showers. The LA band have their album 'Love And Regret available now and have just released this video for the track 'BC'. Usual influences apply: Echo & The Bunnymen, Sisters Of Mercy, The Cult, Joy Division; and usual contemporaries too: Blacklist, A Place To Bury Strangers, Ceremony, Minks. You know the sound, but as always it's the tunes that count and it's upon these that we judge any band.

'BC' gets a big thumbs up as far as we're concerned, being an exact hybrid of all the bands we've just mentioned, all of whom are very good, and thus so are Cold Showers. The driving rhythm section is the engine room over which guitar chimes and vocals such as "woe is me" are placed. It's even got a cover with dead flowers on, just in case you didn't know where they were coming from. Yeah it's all been done before and it will all be done again, but right now these guys are a match for anyone, so get stuck in.
