TreeTop - I Just Need You

Single review karla@thesoundofconfusion.com

Liverpudlian Craig Lamb is a one-man band making ethereal folk music under the moniker of TreeTop. Although very new to our radar, 2013 was quite a big year for TreeTop, seeing him perform two BBC Introducing live sessions, lots of support shows and performing at the Liverpool Music awards. He's started this year rather quietly, whilst recording lots of lovely new tracks. The first song to reach us is 'I Just Need You' which as of now, and TreeTop has generously released it for free download through his Bandcamp page.

The track has an earthly quality to it. Craig's vocals have a hushed, whispered texture to them that peacefully resonate and wrap around you like a welcome breeze on a warm summers day. 'I Just Need You' echoes and haunts in the most spectacular of ways with a sound that stays with you long after the music has faded out. In terms of contemporaries, I'd stick TreeTop alongside the likes of Radical Face and Joshua Radin. Definitely one to keep a very watchful eye on.
