Ummagma - Human Factor Garners Awards Down Under

Article by wayoutwest@thesoundofconfusion.com

Just as the blogosphere is in a frenzy preparing its year-end "best" lists, the Australia Independent Music Video Awards held its awards ceremony for 2013. Amog the winners were Ozzie bands and those that are not-so-Ozzie (i.e. in the international category). This year, it turns out that one of the bands we have our eyes on managed to pick up two awards. That band is… drum roll… Ummagma. If you’ve been reading this blog religiously over the past 16 months or so, this Ukrainian-Canadian duo should be no stranger to you. So what is the video and what did they win? It's 'Human Factor', which you can find below, and the two awards: Best East European Video and Best International Pop Video. Not bad for an indie duo situated in a conflict-laden Ukraine, making music on a shoestring.

We've also caught word that there are currently several other Ummagma videos in the making. Since they have about a dozen, that means they've got about half their songs covered at this point. Your guess is as good as ours as to which videos will come next, but we're hedging our bets that at least one of them will be for the songs below. One thing is probable given their track record - we will likely be hearing more about the band once the next video is ready.
