Lanterns On The Lake - Until The Colours Run

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

One man's promising new talent is another man's crock of shit. So we were rightly a little bit smug when we learned that Newcastle collective Lanterns On The Lake had signed to the almost faultless Bella Union label to release their debut album. We're told that the record, 'Until The Colours Run', is set for release in January, although Amazon beg to differ, giving it an October date. We'll leave them to battle that one out. What we do know for sure is that the album's title-track is a single and it's available now. It's not a let-down in the slightest.

Don't fancy the full on ayahuasca experience? Well try the video to this instead. Lanterns On The Lake take us to a magical different dimension that's full of wonder and fantasy. The video is pure candy for your eyes to chew over. The song? That'll get your ears munching too. Much like the video, this orchestral dreampop is pure magic and intricately arranged in just the way we hoped this band would develop. Whenever the release date for the album is, it's sure to attract plenty of attention, and we have our fingers crossed for more of the same splendour.
