Lord Huron - She Lit A Fire

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

Another prediction we can mark off as a definite success. Saying that, we can take little credit for foreseeing the rise of Lord Huron; by the time we heard about the Californian group last year they were getting a fair bit of publicity and were better known back home than in the UK. With their harmony-rich alt-country those Fleet Foxes comparisons were perhaps inevitable, but there is a similarity and if anything in that ballpark ticks the right boxes with you then their début album 'Lonesome Dreams' is surely a must. The string of singles have definitely impressed.

If, on the off-chance, you are new to their sounds the you can try a little more by checking the title-track and also 'Time To Run' which we've covered in the past. We know not the future release schedule, but judging by the timing, 'She Lit A Fire' might be the last single before they set to work on a follow-up. There's surely been writing in progress throughout the year. This single, as with the others contains that same convergence of voices and a style rooted in Americana. It's thought-out and perfectly put together, and could be considered a great ending to the opening chapters of Lord Huron's story.
