Just what is it about Dent May that's made him so damn popular? He might not be a household name (although he's not far off) but each of his releases comes with a flurry of hype and gets covered by the main music press outlets as though he's some kind of returning hero. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Dent may, I just can't understand why it's him that gets so much attention when so many equally good or even better acts release stunning album after stunning album and the world doesn't even notice. This isn't mainstream music, he looks kind of like Mr. E from Eels non-psychotic younger brother; he's hardly a stereotypical heartthrob.
This is the bit where we give you the answer, yeah? I'm afraid not. I honestly have no idea what makes Mr. May's appeal that much greater than others. His new album is out, it's called 'Warm Blanket' and if you follow the music press you probably know all about it. 'Born Too Late' is a single with a fun video and it's a very enjoyable tune that's driven by his distinct voice and eclectic musical style, much like all his other singles. It's very good, but so are a lot of other records. I think it was Rod Stewart who said "some guys have all the luck".
