Model Aeroplanes - Crazy

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

It's a bit annoying getting sent a song only to learn that someone else has already come up with the perfect description of its sound. So we'll give a nod to The Line Of Best Fit who described this as "Indie-pop that connects the dots between Vampire Weekend and Bombay Bicycle Club". That, right there, is exactly what this sounds like. Dundee band Model Aeroplanes have no time for pretension. They describe themselves as "fun, fresh and honest", and again a little part of our job is done for us. New single 'Crazy' even contains the line "you wanna dance" and provides the music with which to do so.

This young band have already played T In The Park and had praise hurled their way from some high places, and this is before this début single is even released. It's time to mention that "P" word again: potential. This band are swimming in it, and they could become contemporaries of Two Door Cinema Club and so on, however, their music isn't totally dissimilar to another band: Little Comets. Little Comets have a decent fanbase and have got to a reasonable level, but they're yet to make the step up to the heights of the other bands mentioned above. Perhaps, thanks to a slightly more commercial sound, Model Aeroplanes with make that leap. Time will tell, but everything seems in place.
