We feature an awful lot of bands on the site. Some of them we hear from once and that's it. Maybe they split up, maybe their future releases weren't much cop, or maybe we just lost track and they slipped off our radar. So it's a pleasure to be reintroduced to Irish band O Emperor who we first featured back in October. It's also a pleasure to find them still on good form and progressing in terms of publicity and recognition in general. The guys have an album planned for June, so with any luck we'll be hearing even more before too long.
New single 'Holy Fool' is out on April 15th but ahead of that they've posted the video so we have plenty of time to absorb the song and get used to it, and it's well worth getting to know. Somehow O Emporer have taken the basics of punk, stripped away the anger and almost given it a shoegaze makeover. It's a different take on what many bands were doing 20 years ago but works really well with their lightness of touch, harmonies and restrained production. We've only heard three songs by this lot so far and all have been top-notch. Role on June.
