This summer Los Angeles band Broken Anchor will be releasing their debut album, 'Fresh Lemonade'. The project was originally conceived as a collaboration between musician Austin Hartley-Leonard, who'd been performing solo for several years, and producer Brad Gordon, but eventually Mike Duffy was brought in to flesh out the sound. Now being plugged as a duo of Hartley-Leonard and Duffy, the songs have come thick and fast since the conception less than a year ago. Leading up to the album's release they're giving us a tasty little sample with this video for 'Never Leave Me Alone'.
As with many music promos at the moment, the video is basically a whole load of WTF? and really makes you wonder where these directors get their ideas from. Whatever they're on, we'd like to try some. The song is a cracker, a proper decent slab of US alt-rock that may be trying to steal the thunder from The National who've just announced a new album themselves. If that kind of sound is your bag then you'll love Broken Anchor, especially if they've got a few more anthems like this tucked away somewhere. 'Never Leave Me Alone' is a big tune and, if you're hearing them for the first time, a grand introduction.
