Cat Martino - Yr Not Alone

There seems to be the notion that adult pop (that's as in AOR, not expletive-ridden or pornographic) is the reserve of ultra conservative types who'd probably find The Feeling "a bit cutting edge for me", but that notion is utter tosh. Pop music doesn't have to be aimed at 16-24 year-olds, and it's very degrading to assume that anyone in that age range wants to be spoon-fed One Direction or LMFAO all the time anyway. Pop music can be mature without being ultra safe and bland; it doesn't have to be muzak, it doesn't have to be beige and nondescript.

Take Brooklyn's Cat Martino for example. You won't find 'Yr Not Alone' blaring out at your mate's 16th birthday party as you throw up in the corner after too much cheap cider, but that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed and appreciated by people of that age group. Good quality pop transcends barriers and this is proof. An enchanting and magic piece of dreampop that would happily go on the Radio 2 playlist and likewise be enjoyed by more left-field types. It's a beautiful piece. Cat Martino is, purely and simply, universally good, so enjoy this, whoever you are.
