Five For Free #58
Field Mouse - Glass
The amount of times Brooklyn gets mentioned here really is starting to get out of hand, but if the borough keeps coming up with the goods then who are we to argue? Field Mouse are a four-piece indie/dreampop band with an effortless way with a melody. Free track 'Glass' is a delightful piece of indiepop and is the first of two singles released so far this year. More from them very soon...

Bowerbirds - In The Yard
North Carolina based alt-country band Bowerbirds will be dropping their third full-length album on Monday which is titled 'The Clearing'. To get a taste of what to expect check out this little freebie they've kindly given us. 'In The Yard' is a stirring piece of American indie/folk that builds on a basic acoustic base with some neat harmonies to achieve an almost stately feel.

Xiu Xiu - Hi
Arty synth-punk band Xiu Xiu also bring us a new album next week, their tenth in as many years, and the first since 2010's 'Dear God, I Hate Myself'. The more cheerfully named 'Always' has been getting the critics excited and their avant-garde approach certainly seems to be paying dividends based on what we've heard so far. Check out free track 'Hi'.

Daughn Gibson - In The Beginning
Daughn Gibson started out his musical career as the drummer in Pearls & Brass but is now going it alone with his debut solo album, 'All Hell', set for release next month. His deep croon certainly has a distinctive power to it and offbeat new track 'In The Beginning' suggests that making the decision to go solo was a very wise one. Fingers crossed for more of the same from the album.

Black Mountain - Mary Lou
It's psychedelic rock time, as we welcome the return of Canadian sonic adventurers Black Mountain who release a new album at the beginning of April - the soundtrack to the film 'Year Zero'. Both new and existing material will be included and the eight minute guitar explosion of 'Mary Lou' is one such new track. Grab it for free below.
