Kid Wave - Shelley

Single review by jay@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

After the wonderful introduction that Kid Wave gave us a little while back with 'All I Want', we find ourselves as excited and mesmerised by their latest release 'Shelley'. After only a couple of plays it is most likely my song of the summer.

It comes as a fully-formed, luscious, wonderful hit of sunshine. Lea Emmery's sonorous and impassioned vocals enchant, like Chan Marshall without malaise. Then there are the impeccable chiming guitars and an effortless melody gracing the whole song. 'Shelley' simply demands repeated plays, and becomes a greater joy every time. In the space of three songs Kid Wave are becoming something rather special. With another listen 'Shelley' is my song of the summer.
