Bwani Junction - Papa Candy + Q&A

Article by karla@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

On July 15th Bwani Junction will be releasing their new single 'Papa Candy' which should see them capitalise on what's been a busy time for the group. You can check out the video below. We fired them some questions via email, and the band (Jack Fotheringham, Dan Muir, Fergus Robson and Rory Fairweather) shouted their replies back at us...

TSOC: You guys are from Edinburgh, say I'm visiting for the first time, where should I go and where should I stay clear of?

BJ: GO TO SNEAKY PETES AND THE COWGATE IN GENERAL. STEER CLEAR OF GEORGE STREET IT'S FILLED WITH CHELSEA CHILDREN (MADE IN CHELSEA). THE BEST THING ABOUT EDINBURGH EVERYWHERE HAS A 5AM LICENCE IN AUGUST SO YOU CAN STAY OUT ALL NIGHT.

TSOC: You already released one album 'Fully Cocked', and one EP, how does your forthcoming second album differ (if at all), from your debut album?

BJ: IT'S BIGGER BETTER BADDER, FASTER STRONGER… AND THERE ARE COWS INVOLVED. OUR PRODUCER CALLED IT A COMIC BOOK ALBUM.

TSOC: Say you’re headlining your own fantasy festival, where in the world would you want to perform?

BJ: ON TOP OF MOUNT EVEREST SINGING 'GIMME SHELTER'. WITH SNOW PATROL *GIGGLING*

TSOC: And you can have five other acts, past or present/dead or alive, to play the same line up as you during your fantasy festival. Who do you pick?

BJ: LED ZEPPELIN, THE CLASH, ELVIS COSTELLO AND THE ATTRACTIONS, YES AND BOB MARLEY.

TSOC: Most of us have that one artist/band/CD who we really dig but are a bit ashamed of! Do you guys have one and can you share it with us?

BJ: S CLUB 7. NOT THE KIDS ONE. THE GROWN UP ONE. *HANGS HEAD*

TSOC: You’re currently in London, what's your favourite thing about the city?

BJ: THE ISLINGTON END OF THE CANAL AND THE STABLES IN CAMDEN ARE VERY COOL. THE £1 PIZZA. WE DIG THAT.

TSOC: What’s your schedule looking like for the rest of the year? Can we catch you on tour/at any festivals anytime soon?

BJ: SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER IS GOING TO BE BUSY - A TOUR, BUT WE CAN'T SAY WHO WITH. YET.

TSOC: You've been real busy and supported Paul Simon, opened for The Vaccines and toured with Little Comets amongst other things. Which show have you done to date that's had the biggest impact on you?

BJ: PROBABLY THE LITTLE COMETS SHOWS, THEIR FANBASE REALLY RESPONDS TO US. BUT PLAYING STADIUMS AROUND FRANCE WITH 'M' WAS AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE.

TSOC: And lastly, is there any new talent from Edinburgh (besides yourselves) who we should be keeping an eye out for?

BJ: DISCOPOLIS ARE GREAT. WE ALSO LOVE THE ACRYLIC - THEY'RE OUR PALS.

AND THANK YOU!!!
