Nude Beach - I'm Giving Up

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

This bunch from Brooklyn were lucky enough to tour with Roky Erickson last year, but we're not totally, completely, utterly jealous at all. They also toured extensively on their own in support of their second album, but without pausing for breath they've announced more dates and a new single. The new 7" from Nude Beach will be available to buy at the gigs and will also hit shops at the start of July. We're not sure what the A-side is yet, or if it's a new track or taken from their last album, but the band have made B-side 'I'm Giving Up' available to stream already.

Writing about a B-side? You might be thinking it's probably not worth it. You'd be totally wrong in this instance. The general rule is that the lead-track from a single is supposedly the best/strongest. Well, if that's going to be the case here then we think Nude Beach must have something pretty special planned, because 'I'm Giving Up' could easily be single material in its own right. There's something about jangly indie that just sounds better in the summer, and this delightfully melodic, slightly lo-fi number is an absolute winner. It'll be worth buying the single for this alone.
