This is the second track we've heard from South-West psych-rockers PJP Band following 'Vicious Luck', a free download we featured a few weeks back. Their debut album is now upon us and is called '...And So It Goes'. Everything seems to be indicating that they've done a decent job of it too, and new track 'Ole! We Ain't Prey' is up to the standard we'd hoped for. It also comes with a decent psychedelic video, which is always a bonus, especially if you're a fan of hairy, bare-chested men (I'm not personally, but each to their own...).
With the drum kit getting a good deal of use and some organ to add a bit more depth to the sound, 'Ole! We Ain't Prey' is largely about hitting an anthemic chorus, which they successfully manage to do on several occasions here without it becoming repetitive. As well as the mild psych sound, these guys also incorporate elements of punk, indie and alt-rock. So you can either take that as a sign that they're trying to cover as many bases as possible (and if so they've done it well), or that they still have an ultimate sound to develop for themselves. We're thinking it's the latter, and that PJP Band are just getting started. Expect them to go from strength to strength.
