Five For Free #153

Bear's Den - Agape

A full year into their career and London trio Bear's Den are, as the poster above suggests, about to head out on tour with able support provided by Joe Banfi. As they've not been around for long, you might want some of their music to check out before considering any ticket-based purchases. Well, you're in luck because the stirring and splendid indie/folk of 'Agape' is free below.

Ballerina Black - Birth Of A Felony

They describe themselves as "gloom pop" and they're probably right, although new single 'Birth Of A Felony' is a lively alt-rock number that shows exactly why they've opened for acts such as Interpol and Silversun Pickups. Ballerina Black formed in 2007 and released their acclaimed debut in 2010. 'Birth Of A Felony' is from new EP 'Blå' which is out on February 14th.

Farewell J.R - Night Wolves

From what we gather, Farewell J.R are and Anglo-Irish group whose debut EP 'Health' (due out on March 11th) was recorded in England, Ireland and Australia. So they get about a bit. Lead-track and free download 'Night Wolves' is as spooky and haunted as the name suggests but it's also a quite beautiful piece of Americana-style alt-rock that's packed with emotion.

Lola's Bad - Kissing The Night

The video for this new single was shot in Wales and might just be of interest to the Welsh tourist board with the way it shows off some of the superb countryside they have to offer. Lola's Bad themselves are based in London and their previous single 'Drown With Me' also came with some great visuals. We can't ignore the tune though, and 'Kissing The Night' is top-notch, exotic-sounding electro-pop.

Kieran And The Iguanas - In The Future

At the moment this self-titled EP from Kieran And The Iguanas is made up of demos, but they're currently in the studio working on a proper release for new label Tank Engine Records. Certainly a fan of eclectic instruments, the tracks on this EP are varied and make use of plenty of different sounds, even a kazoo. Our favourite is the lovely acoustic track 'In The Future' although you can get the whole set for free.
