The Cold One Hundred - Carson

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

That may look like a page torn out of a Topman catalogue, but it is in fact a recent picture of the very likable band The Cold One Hundred who are working on an album as we speak and have posted a new track online to give us something of a progress report. There's no concrete date set for the album yet, but it's fair to guess that if they're happy with some (or at least one!) of the songs already then we can expect to be hearing more later this year, either in the form of singles or the whole shebang.

The Cold One Hundred sound like they're on the right track with this one. It's not generic indie and it's not piggy-backing on any scenes. The near falsetto vocals mix it with guitars and a variety of electronic sounds, making good use of a few effects and pedals too. A fairly mid-paced number, 'Carson' is no big-hitter but has enough of the good stuff to become a fan favourite and it sounds like the work of a band who are currently in their element.
