Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk
London-based but derived from various locations across the UK, Mt. Wolf got plenty of new music spotters a little excited with the release of their debut EP 'Life Size Ghosts', ourselves included, and all of a sudden found themselves the centre of attention when it came to tips for 2013 lists. The quartet didn't rush into a new released to try and cash in on the hype, they're waiting until March to put out their follow-up 'Hypolight' EP and are easing us in gently, very very gently, by unveiling the record's lead track. Put simply, it's spellbinding.
Proving the first EP was no fluke or was all they had in their locker, 'Hypolight' surpasses any song we've heard from them so far. They call themselves dream folk, we call them simply dreamy. The folk element is subtle and perhaps only really noteworthy in the vocal delivery. We're looking at more regular dreampop here, but only regular in style. In quality this song is a cut above. The vocals are alluringly pretty and the waves of sound lap over you like waves on a sunkissed beach, capturing a little bit of magic along the way. If you've heard any of the hype thus far, we'll tell you now that it's worth believing.
