Abbe May - T.R.O.U.B.L.E

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

It's always heartening when we feature an artist and sing their praises, and then they follow said release up with a track of equal merit. Back in November we featured 'Karmageddon' by Australian singer-songwriter Abbe May, singling her out for her individual take on doom-pop, a genre that doesn't get explored very often. Sure there are plenty of bands out there that dress in black and sing about apocalyptic visions and other such bleak outlooks, but none that you could really call "pop".

Although Abbe May probably didn't set out to fill a gap in the market she's managed to do so. New single 'T.R.O.U.B.L.E' is the next to be taken from her forthcoming new album 'Kiss My Apocalypse' which is set for an April release. On this song the worlds of witch-house, pop, trip-hop and possibly even a genre that hasn't been invented yet all come together to make a gloriously gloomy piece of power-pop that sounds like darkening skies and impending doom. We predict impending success.
