This has got to be one of the most enigmatic musical endeavours we've had for a while. According to the brief description below the video (well, it's just a stream with an image really...), Man With Glasses is the project of Scottish musician Ian Beattie. He did kindly provide us with a link to a Twitter account though, but that hasn't been used since the summer of 2014, or much at all to be honest. From there we have a link to a Facebook page. That also has barely been used and the last update was August 14th 2014. But... there's a bio! "Your friendly neighbourhood Man With Glasses. Here to help, unite, laugh, share, ponder and ultimately, save the world." Hmm.
Whoever Ian Beattie is, he's not giving much away. There are six songs uploaded to YouTube though, all at the same time about a month ago, with 'Calcium' being the track Man With Glasses is pushing the most. It's an excellently light and catchy piece of instrumental electronic indie though, with a bobbing, looping bassline, a jittery ticking beat and various different instruments cropping up to add melody over the top, culminating in a guitar ending. This is instantly likeable, quite danceable and could do really quite well for itself. It also sounds really like something else which I can't quite put my finger on (any ideas anyone?). With any luck Man With Glasses will unmask himself soon and maybe even give us somewhere to actually buy his music from. Brilliantly intriguing.
