Half Moon Run - I Can't Figure Out What's Going On

Article by KevW

There's good news for British-based fans of Montreal quartet Half Moon Run, as the band have recently announced a string of UK and Irish dates for March in support of new album 'Sun Leads Me On' which was released in October. To whet your appetite, they've just released a video for new single 'I Can't Figure Out What's Going On' which was directed by Heston L'abbée and was shot in the same place as the song was written, a place that's inspired much of the music on their two albums so far.

Based around the idea of fluidity between space and time, the band wanted to create something a little psychedelic, and this surreal creation was made. It's safe to say it defies general conceptions about what psychedelic imagery should be. The song itself doesn't fit the psych bracket, which is perhaps why these unusual visual fit whereas traditional concepts of the idea would seem out of place. This is a grandiose indie-rock song with subtle strings and neat harmonies with a twang of Americana thrown in. They'll be well worth catching when they hit these shores in the spring.
