The Suicide Of Western Culture - Remembering Better Times

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

OK, so the new single from The Suicide Of Western Culture doesn't have a name that matches previous effort 'Hey, Guys! I Know The Name Of The Culprits' but musically it's just as good, if not better. The Spanish group have recently released their second album 'Only Hope Brings Pain' from which this track is taken, and it's another superb instrumental number that has roots in retro electronica, post-rock, ambient, shoegaze and probably more if you care to look. There's even a slight fantasy feel to the song; it could have been written for a soundtrack.

With all this lot mixed together you can expect something which is likely to flex its muscles a bit in the atmospherics stakes; a natural blend of post-rock grandeur, electronic shoegaze potency tied in with ambient sounds will cook up a hearty dish in this respect. 'Remembering The Better Times' duly delivers its majestic ambitions for your aural pleasure and does so in a way you could perhaps describe using the word "towering". But before we run out of journalistic cliches for describing this kind of thing, we'll scarper and leave you to listen.
