Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk
As much of the UK continues cleaning up after recent floods and we're brought the news that 2012 was the second wettest year on record in this country, Work Drugs decide to rub salt in the wound by releasing this new single taken from their limited edition album of the same name. It may be mid January here but it's always summer where these guys are concerned, and 'Delta' mixes the blissed-out vibes of chillwave with some Balearic beats and guitars that are straight from an 80s summer smash. This song couldn't have "sunshine" written on it any more clearly if it tried. Even the cover art shows clear skies and palm trees.
It's a top tune though, there's no denying that, especially if it's escapism you're after or if you're about to jet away to enjoy some winter sun in a far-flung and exotic location. As we sit here watching this video containing bikinis, babes and beaches and general chilled-out and relaxed scenes of tranquility, on the TV the weather forecasters are predicting a cold snap and the chance of some snow coming in for the weekend. And we've still got a couple of months at least before the likelihood of any improvement - and it's all your fault, Work Drugs! *Shakes fist*
