KiteALike - Not Fast Enough

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

Ringing in the new year with some style are Berlin-based group KiteAlike whose EP 'Waif' we featured just before the holiday break. Partly as a thank you to the fans and critics who've supported their take on Anglophile beat-groups and US garage bands, they've made their fist ever video available as a new year's gift for anyone wanting to get to know them a little better. 'Not Fast Enough' was one of the high points of their recent EP and is therefore a wise choice to give an extra plug to in the month when, more than any other, the music press looks to the future and picks the bands they expect to break through.

Containing a classic guitar riff of the sort that could be lifted from the original beat explosion or the sharper end of the 90s Britpop revival, 'Not Fast Enough' is an energetic offering and one that wears its influences on its sleeves; those influences ranging from The Who, The Kinks and The Beatles through to The Las, The Bluetones and The Coral. The visuals are lively, involving forged money, mysterious men in suits and a stop-start animation using actual still photos. It makes your eyes hurt a little bit but does a great job of adding extra potency to an already vibrant song
