The Parson Red Heads - Another Chance

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

Originally released on a small label back in 2011, 'Yearling', the debut album from Portland's The Parson Red Heads, was low-key to say the least. As they correctly put it "sometimes a great album slips through the cracks", and from what we've heard of 'Yearling' so far, this is the case here. Almost exactly a year ago we first learned of them via free download 'Burning Up The Sky'. It wasn't long before the album was out of print. So the good news for fans of brilliantly made dreampop/Americana/psychedelia all mixed together is that this week it gets a full reissue on both sides of the ocean.

Head back and check out the free track we mentioned, then check out the quite splendid Byrds-influenced 'Another Chance'. The harmonious song is given an extra psychedelic twist thanks to the video which was inspired by those early clips of Black Sabbath which they mirror expertly (check YouTube for the originals). Of course the song bears little resemblance to their proto-metal but that just makes it all the more intriguing to watch. And when you've done both of those things lick the clink below and buy the album. If you like the two tracks here you won't be let down in the slightest.
