I Wolf - Let It Go

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

It's been almost a decade since Wolfgang Schloegl released any music under his I Wolf guise, but that's not to say he's been idle in that time, having worked on art and theatre projects including Sofa Surfers, Faraday Orchestra and Paradies der Tiere. Now back to his former incarnation, I Wolf is releasing two albums, and by the sounds of things these will incorporate different takes and arrangements of the same songs; one being 'Fleshandblood', a version that embraces chaos, excess and the struggle of the soul being pulled in many direction. So far so arty.

The second album will be 'Skinandbones' and is said to be a more controlled take, more harmonious, structured and focused. How this will be achieved will be fascinating and curious and is as likely to be one for the chin-stroking musos as much as the electro-pop loving crowds. New single 'Let It Go' offers some idea. The EP contains five versions (the 'Skinandbones', 'Fleshandblood' as well as two remixes and a radio edit) and from what we can tell the variation will be noticeable. Oh, and before we get two absorbed in the concepts, it's worth pointing out that it's a decent, modern and classy hunk of electro-pop as well.
