Brave Baby - Magic and Fire
It was all of two-and-a-bit weeks ago that we first mentioned South Carolina's Brave Baby as possibly being in possession of an early contender for one of this year's best debuts. Following on from free download 'Living In A Country', they present us with an even better piece of alt-rock in new single (and another free track) 'Magic and Fire', and that album, 'Forty Bells', is out this week.

Dutch Uncles - Flexxin
Again it was within the last month that we began looking forward to the latest album from constantly improving Manchester band Dutch Uncles with their single 'Fester'. Well now the day of their third album 'Out of Touch in the Wild' is with us and you can get a free download of bubbly, poppy indie/pop track 'Flexxin' which reminds us a bit of Field Music for some reason.
Forever to be known for their classic 'Take The Skinheads Bowling', the thirty-year career of US alt-rockers Camper Van Beethoven has been a long and winding one. Inactive for the 1990s (while singer David Lowery was busy with Cracker) the past few years have seen a slight resurgence. Their latest album 'La Costa Perdida' is out on February 18th, and here's new single 'Someday Our Love Will Sell Us Out'.

Mr. Moccasin - Black On Black
Mr. Moccasin may be a small band from Baltimore but they deserve to be much more. Led by Azerbaijani singer and poet Hanna Badalova, they sometimes sing in English, sometimes in Russian. This week sees the release of a new album, 'XAHA' on Brooklyn label Bleek Records. Free download 'Black On Black' is an exquisite piece of experimental indie.

OBLIGATORY RECORD OF THE WEEK
Shout Out Louds - Walking In Your Footsteps
For many years one of the finest indie/pop bands in Sweden, it came as a slight surprise that they marked their return in December with slowie 'Blue Ice'. It wasn't that it was unusual for them to make a down-tempo tune, they've made many before, normally though, they mark their return with something a touch more upbeat. And now we get the first proper single from forthcoming new album 'Optica' which is released on February 26th. 'Walking In Your Footsteps' is more of what they do best, a melodic, poppy, hook-filled guitar song. Depending on your location it's out today (Sweden), last week (USA) or nearer the time the album drops (most places). Wherever you are, just press play and enjoy.
