Those literary folk amongst us might be interested to learn that this track's title is inspired by an historical novel by Ayi Kwei Armah. Those more music-minded might like to know that it's the second single to be taken from the new EP by Californians The Seshen, a band who consist of seven members and subsequently take influence from far and wide. The EP will be the follow-up to their self-titled debut album released last year. For reference they mention Stereolab, Broadcast and Santigold.
They've described themselves pretty accurately there, which partly leaves our job half done already. But we should add that there's a distinct poppy side to their sonic experimenting, and it is indeed what Stereolab may sound like if they were given the remix treatment by Santigold. It's that kind of modern pop style mixed with the space bleeps and bloops that you'd associate with everyone's favourite Anglo-French experimentalists. We're thinking they could be on to something here.
