Well we're certainly not unaccustomed to receiving strange promo videos, but we haven't had one quite like this from Atlanta's Del Venicci before. Filmed on what seems to be a cheap camera, the whole thing (which you can see a screen shot of above) consists of a woman (we're assuming the singer) dancing, scantily-clad, in front of the camera while her bandmates remain stationary and emotionless behind her. The drummer is covered in a sheet so you can't even make them out. Then towards the end the whole thing becomes engulfed by smoke. To be perfectly honest we're not sure if it's psychedelic, erotic or creepy. It's probably all three.
The song, 'Speaking To Snakes', is taken from their EP which is due out in the autumn and it also fits the whole "is it psychedelic, erotic or creepy" conundrum. However you look at it, it's a lo-fi song that's loaded with twanging guitars, basic, primal beats and slightly shrill vocals, but it all works really well and makes for a good listen. Whether this is a sign of things to come, either sonically or visually, we'll have to wait and see. However, with this one, at least Del Venicci have marked themselves out as being a little different, and that's rarely a bad thing.
