The Vickers hail from the breathtakingly beautiful city of Florence, Italy. With a listen to their newest single 'She's Lost' you'd be forgiven for thinking that they'd fallen out of a smog-filled Manchester around 1990. This is not to detract from the quality and strength of 'She's Lost', it just has all the hallmarks of a classic indie tune. With Ride guitars and a Jesus & Mary Chain distorted melody running through, it's a shot of tightly controlled noise with a psych-laden edge. Vocals suitably buried mid-point to give the feel of being enveloped by the wash of the song. 'She's Lost' is an indie-pop record in its purest sense. It's a quite special song, that shows real substance and not just plagiarism.
B-side 'All I Need' doesn't deviate from the template, adding a touch of Joy Division darkness and Dinosaur Jr fuzz, making this single release an exciting insight into what The Vickers may bring to us in the future. Bands like Peace are riding high at the moment and The Vickers can easily fall into place next to them.
