Cayetana - Hot Dad Calendar
Inspired by a mixture of indiepop and riot grrrl, Philadelphia's Cayetana have the whole alternative guitar-pop thing perfected on new single 'Hot Dad Calendar'. With punk attitude and pop hooks, there's something about this trio that's impossible not to like. The charts may allude them, but we're willing to bet that cult status is surely awaiting them.

The High Wire - Still
Sometimes you wish your favourite bands would just get on with it and put their new album out, but the steady trickle of new material from The High Wire is actually helping to build excitement for their album 'Found In Honey' which is due this summer. 'Still' has their classic mix of vocals and twinkles that blends the worlds of dreampop and indie-rock together so well.

Tense Men - RNRFON
The second band we've featured this week (after Primitive Parts) to feature a member of Sauna Youth, Tense Men also count Cold Pumas and Omi Palone players as part of their line-up. Going off 'RNRFON' we'd have to say that they've picked the correct band name, as this is a tense, throbbing, urgent and powerful modern post-punk tune.

Kobadelta - Love Stoned Chic
We've had our eye on Newcastle's Kobadelta since we first heard them last summer, and it was great their their last single delivered the goods in the way we'd hoped. This week they release 'The Hidden Door' EP, and it's the sound of modern psych getting down and dirty with Nick Cave, and naturally that's a very good thing. Check out freebie 'Love Stoned Chic' and then go and buy the rest.
