Pagan Moon is the alias of Polish-born, London-based musician Justyna Lasica who apparently retreated to her attic and returned with two darkly menacing skewed pop songs which will be released as a split cassette single with two tracks from FNORDS. Her minimalist take on what could be describe as witch-house without the heavy bass is fairly unique even though the world is drowning in a sea of bedroom music makers who favour the lo-fi approach. These songs both consist of little more than guitar, bass and vocals, but they certainly create an occultish feeling.
First track 'Your Swan' is the moodiest, with a repetitive and distorted guitar line where she askes someone, or something to "fuck me 'til dawn", it's as though you're intruding on some creepy, Satanic pagan ritual backed by minimalist guitar pieces. Second offering 'Nights End Rather Dark' is also, as the title suggests, hardly sweetness and light, but that's not to say that the atmosphere is creates is any less powerful, it's just that the rawness of the whole thing shuns pop music almost entirely in favour of pandering to whatever dark forces she found lurking in that attic of hers. We'll stick to the downstairs if she ever invites us round for a cuppa.
