Cub Sport - Paradise

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

You suspect that, although we're entering September and the end of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it's always summer in the minds of Brisbane band Cub Sport. In the video for this song, the Brisbane band intersperse images of them in a dark and cold studio with some of the most sunkissed scenes you can get. Oh, and if you're wondering why the cover says "Cub Scouts", then that's their original name which was changed to avoid and legal shenanigans with the actual cub scouts. So Cub Sport it is.

Musically this is pure indie/pop sunshine. If it's pissing it down outside then stick this tune on and you'll be flying by in some speedboat in tropical waters with the sun burning your eyes even through your shades. You probably need factor 50 on to even listen to this. It's as catchy as this kind of music can get, and while in may not be the epitome of cool, it's still irresistible and doesn't lose its initial magic even after repeat plays. Feeling sad that the nights are drawing in? Well now you can buy summer in musical form and solve all your problems.
