The trouble with having a band name like So Sexual is that your music will have to have some kind of spirit or drive to prevent you from being ridiculed. Imagine if Keane were called So Sexual? That would never work. This quartet from Liverpool to seem to have drive (and we assume a sex drive), as they're intent of playing as many gigs as they possibly can this year and releasing a vinyl EP in the not too distant future. This though, is their first digital single and comprises of two pieces of electro-pop.
So far so unremarkable, everyone's making electro-pop at the moment. The good news is that there are two good songs on this single, so they're on the right track. The sound is heavily indebted to the 1980s new-wave movement, particularly on 'Santa Carla'. 'This Is Where The Story Ends' is possibly even more retro and closer to what the New Romantics were doing, but they do it well. As for being sexual? Well they're currently somewhere between Keane and Barry White. I guess exactly where will be down to personal preference, so we'll let you be the judge of that.
